Men's Soccer

There's an undeniable air of excitement surrounding the 2008 Briarcliffe's men's soccer team. Coach Rafael Morias has lofty expectations as the program enters its second year. "Although we are a young squad, we expect to make the playoffs and contend for the USCAA national championship," said coach Morias. "We have a talented core of players, and I expect they will have success as they learn to play together."

The 2008 team is lead by the team's sole senior Steven Diaz and sophomores Jorge Sanchez, Alan Acevedo and Charles Okeke. Diaz is the team's goalkeeper. "I'm excited to play with our incoming freshmen, particularly the defenders," said Diaz. "We're going to have a whole new look this year."

Okeke is a forward who is making the transition from playing in the defense last year. Acevedo and Sanchez are mid-fielders who came to Briarcliffe last January. "I can't wait to begin the season," said Acevedo. "We've been training since last winter, and it's time to get on the field."

The Seahawk's are coming off a .500 season in their first year of existence. The Seahawks open in Pennsylvania against PSU-York on August 31. The first home game is September 19 vs. St. Thomas Aquinas.
